How to use BCDW 2.0

Create a folder for your BootCD data, e.g. D:\MyBootCD.
In this folder, create another folder called bcdw.
From the BCDW 2 archive, copy the files loader.bin, bcdw.bin and bcdw.ini to the bcw folder, e.g D:\MyBootCD\bcdw.
Bcdw.ini (formerly Bootcat.ini) is the central configuration file for BCDW 2.
Copy everything you want to be on your BootCD to the bootcd folder, e.g. D:\MyBootCD.
If you want to add programs that have a folder I386, like ERDCommander, BartPE or O&O BlueCon to your BootCD, just copy this I386 folder and rename it, the name has to consist of 4 characters, e.g. ERDC, BART, BLUC. Do not edit any files in these folders.
The integration of ERD Commander 2005 is more complex, here is a small howto.
If you want to add BartPE, you have to copy the folder Prgrams from your pebuilder folder to your BootCD folder together with the I386 folder.
If you want to add MS Windows XP setup, copy the I386 folder of the XP setup CD to your BootCD folder. Do not rename it!
If you want to add a program from a bootable CD that does not have an I386 folder to your BootCD, use Bart's Bootable Image Extractor to extract the boot information from the CD and copy it to the root of your BootCD folder together with the complete contents of the bootable CD.
If you want to add programs from bootable floppies, use WinImage to create a non-compressed image of this floppy and copy it to your BootCD folder or a subfolder.
If you want to add a program from a bootable CD that resides entirely in the bootsector of the CD (i.e. when creating an Image of the CD, you see no files or folders, but the image size is bigger than zero; e.g. some Acronis Programs), you can simply create an iso image of the CD and copy it anywhere to your BootCD folder.
The entries in bcdw.ini are in the section MenuItems, in the format
\file.bin ;program name.
In the case of the programs containing an I386 folder, the file to be addressed is setupldr.bin in the corresponding folder.
The other sections can be used to set password, logo and font and to change the appearance of BCDW. As these sections have not changed since version 1.50Z, plaese refer to the 1.50Z documentation in the BCDW section of this page for further information.
Finally, start your CD/DVD writing application, choose bootable CD or DVD, select "No emulation", set the number of sectors to load to 4, set loader.bin as the boot image file and the segments to load to 07C0. Here's a screenshot from Nero. Now add the contents of the bootcd folder to the project and burn.
